home staging

By Jason Boone

2015 is officially here and with the start of a New Year many home owners in Bend will be thinking about selling their homes.

If you’re thinking about selling your home this year here are 7 home staging tips you should use to make your home more appealing to buyers.

Tip 1 – Wash Your Bathroom Walls

Besides having carpeting in a bathroom, most home buyers are turned off by bathroom walls which are grimy or dirty.

You should wash dirty bathroom walls and repaint them so that your bathroom looks fresh and well maintained.

Tip 2 – Make Your Master Bedroom Gender Neutral

Since you’re trying to sell your home to buyers from both sexes it’s best to make sure your master bedroom is gender neutral by painting walls neutral colors and choosing decorations, bedding and other accessories which would appeal to both men and women.

Tip 3 – Paint That Ugly Fireplace

If you haven’t rehabbed your fireplace since the 1990’s, it’s time to bring it into the 21st century by giving it a fresh coat of paint.

Tip 4 – Stain Those Kitchen Cabinets

Instead of replacing kitchen cabinets take the time to stain them and replace outdated knobs with new hardware.

Tip 5 – Choose Stainless Steel Appliances

Did you know that you can easily replace the front panel to your dish washer and replace with a stainless steel panel? This costs only $20 or less and can make an outdated kitchen appear modern.

Tip 6 – Patch and Paint Those Walls

Do the walls in your home have holes and scars from your years of you living there? Take the time to patch up holes in walls and repaint so that every room in your home will appear to be fresh and inviting.

Tip 7 – Don’t Forget Curb Appeal

Last of all, but most important, don’t forget to keep the focus on curb appeal by improving the landscaping in front of your home.
